Your dog may be eligible if these criteria are met:
- Has been diagnosed by a veterinarian with a heart murmur and enlarged heart, known as Stage B2 MMVD (myxomatous mitral valve disease)
- Has not started taking any other heart medication
- Is at least 6 years old
- Is not pregnant or lactating
- Weighs between 9 and 33.1 pounds
- Meets certain other medical criteria as outlined for referring veterinarians here

If you believe your dog meets the criteria and there’s a study site near you, then discuss the study with your primary care veterinarian, who will make the referral.

If your dog is determined eligible to be screened, you and your veterinarian will be contacted. You will be asked to schedule your dog for a screening visit with the participating veterinary cardiologist in your area.
